They love it:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <strong>Moist, muddy, peaty soil.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; No direct light.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; No wind.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So if you come to Scotland during the summer months, beware of the Scottish forests! To lay their eggs, they choose a &nbsp;<strong>wet soil<\/strong> or&nbsp;<strong>muddy<\/strong>. During the winter, they go through four larval stages and in late spring the adult midge will finally emerge.<\/p>\n<p>During the mating season, males find a female to mate with and then die.<\/p>\n<p>Females, on the other hand, will lay their first batch of eggs without ingesting blood. From that moment on, they can lay two or more batches of eggs depending on the weather and survival.<\/p>\n<p>We remind you that they have to ingest blood in order to lay another batch of eggs. When autumn arrives, the females die and start all over again.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Depending on the weather conditions of each year, what is known as <strong>bivoltinism<\/strong> (a second and sometimes third midges season) can occur.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, depending on the weather we can predict whether we will find many or few midges, (if it has been a dry May, June, we will have fewer midges midges are <strong>flower nectar<\/strong> and <strong>plant sap<\/strong>, so they are always found in green environments. However, they are attracted to humans or animals because of the <strong>CO2<\/strong> we emit when we exhale, our <strong>body heat<\/strong> and the <strong>scent<\/strong> we wear.<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"vc_empty_space\"> <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"vc_row wpb_row section vc_row-fluid \" data-q_id=\"#indice1\"><div class=\" full_section_inner clearfix\"><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><h2>Midge sting<\/h2><p>As I was telling you before, the females are in charge of pecking. Although we would really be talking about biting, their jaw is different from that of the males, they have very fine teeth that work like two saws, cutting the skin. If we have this chemical it works as a <strong>natural repellent<\/strong> for midges. <\/p><p>It seems that they are currently doing research on it in order to isolate the gene and in the future turn it into an anti-midges <strong>pill<\/strong>. Can you imagine?<\/p><p><strong>How to treat a Midge bite?<\/strong><\/p><p>Normally these stings are <strong>not<\/strong> dangerous and disappear on their own.
